About Sherpa Support Organisation

Helping us to achieve our aims

Juway Village Organisation promotes educational and economic opportunities for qualified individuals through community-generated projects in Juway, Everest region, Nepal.

Juway is a Sherpa village of some 400 people including children, located in the Everest region of Nepal, 6500 ft. above sea level. Although this region is very popular with tourists many villages including Juway are not situated on the main routes and therefore do not benefit from tourism. There are no roads in this region and travel is by footpath only.

The villagers all Sherpa people are part of a very close community, a community where everyone knows each other by name, families having known each other through generations.

What We Provide

The Juway Sherpa Project has been created to help address these issues, working with the local people to support their sustainable development in this beautiful region and to help preserve their cultural heritage for future generations to come.

  • SUPPORTING LOCAL SKILLS

    There are many local people who value their traditional heritage and would like to see that continued. The skill level of many local crafts people is outstanding.

  • SUPPORTING EARTHQUAKE RECOVERY

    We will introduce these funds to the Juway Sherpa Project, ring fencing them to ensure they are used for their intended purpose. We raised money to assist these families to rebuild their properties and to help the Sherpas widows and children with immediate living costs.

  • VOLUNTEER IN NEPAL HIMALAYA

    The Himalayan region lies north of Nepal. This is where all the snow capped mountains are located. Our volunteer program is located in the Juway Village, Khumbu region, in the district of Solukhumbu, northeast of Kathmandu.
